Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Steve is a Managing Partner at Palm Peak Capital, serves on its Investment & Executive Committee, and has been engaged in private equity and leveraged finance for 30 years.  Prior to founding Palm Peak in 2024, Steve was a Senior Partner and Head of North American Private Equity at Sun Capital Partners, having joined the firm during their pledge fund days. 

Steve also served on Sun Capital’s Investment committee which approves all investments made by Sun Capital.  In addition, Steve was a member of the Executive Committee which oversees and manages the overall strategy of the firm.  Aside from his committee responsibilities, Mr. Liff managed the US transaction team which includes offices in Boca Raton, Los Angeles, and New York City. Furthermore, Steve most recently managed various departments including accounting and finance, human resources, legal, compliance and IT.  Steve also sourced and led dozens of transactions at Sun Capital during his tenure, including Cotton Holdings, Horizon Services, Frontier Spinning, Innocor, and SOS Security, among others.

Prior to joining Sun Capital in March of 2000, Steve worked at NationsBank and Bank of America Commercial Finance, focusing on marketing, underwriting, and closing new leveraged finance transactions. Steve was born and raised in Florida and received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Arizona, but now also roots for the University of Virginia where his two children currently attend.  Steve, his wife of 27 years Tiffany, and their dog are all avid boaters and runners from their home base in Lighthouse Point, FL.
